When it comes to entertaining for friends and family, you can’t go wrong with a cheese plate. With so many different flavors and textures, cheese is the perfect food to satisfy everyone’s preferences. Follow these tips to create a balanced cheese plate:
- Show off three different cheeses. Choose at least one cheese made with each type of milk—cow, goat, and sheep. Different milks make cheeses with different textures, ranging from soft and creamy to hard and dense. Offering three types of cheese encourages your guests to experience new flavors and textures.
- Offer neutral crackers made with whole grains.Breads or crackers with too much flavor or toppings can take away from the tastiness of the cheeses. Offering plain crackers ensures that the cheeses are still the main focus. Choose whole grain options to add an extra dash of health to your spread!
- Don’t forget the fruit and nuts!A cheese plate is not complete and just plain boring without complementary foods and spreads. Add grapes, apples, berries, dried fruits, almonds, nuts, mustards, and fruit preserves. Munch on smaller portions of cheese and pair with these treats.
